Dallas-based comedian Paul Varghese has been a bright spot on the local comic map for some time now. It would be easy to overlook him when so many so-called Big Names come to town regularly if he wasn’t so damn hilarious. Indeed, he’s made a name for himself outside of North Texas, as he’s been featured on high-profile comedy tours and a number of television specials. And make no mistake, his insightful, cutting observations on living as an Asian-American offer up all-ethnicity chuckles, but he also successfully riffs on everything from reality TV to getting pulled over by a cop. But in October of 2012, Varghese was our local comedian-on-the-case when Big Tex burned down at the State Fair of Texas. His stream of Tweets regarding the blazing demise of the massive icon made Big Tex’s incineration a bit easier to handle.
