Cronenberg apostles, listen up. The Angelika loves and understands your obsession with exploding heads and all things ConSec, because it’s showing Scanners at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Weird, dark and riddled with telepathy, this one’s got it all. Governmental ill deeds? Check. Subversive counterculture messages and gruesome theories on surveillance? Got it. Method actor Michael Ironside? Oh, heck yeah. It’s part of the Angelika’s return to cult classic programming, which now runs late nights each weekend. Earlier this month the theater brought the original Alien and Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth back to the big screen. Don’t miss Scanners, and check out the December retro film offerings at angelikafilmcenter.com. Tickets cost $7, a small price to watch a brain explode.
