There’s been a lot of talk about stand-up around these parts lately. As someone who has attended a couple of open mikes recently, I’m gonna have to give it to you straight: Only about a third of the people out there who think they’re funny can actually elicit a laugh from a captive audience. It’s sad but true. But you know who is damn funny? Hal Sparks. Known as Michael Novotny from Queer as Folk, as well as everyone’s favorite talking head on VH-1’s I Love the ’70s/’80s/’90s, he will be making a local stop Thursday night at the Improv (4980 Belt Line Road in Addison). He’ll be hitting the stage and bringing the laughs at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improv2.com.
