It is a common fact that when iconic country music artists are considered, Hank Williams, Gene Autry, Johnny Cash and–heaven forbid–Rascall Flatts, always seems to get honored. However, one of the greatest pioneers of country music and an individual who constantly pushed the envelope and as a result, carved a niche for herself and other women in the genre is the incomparable Loretta Lynn. With a career that spans decades and a history of not shying away from uncomfortable issues that women and families face on a regular basis, Lynn has become an entertainment industry icon and cemented herself as the “First Lady of Country Music.” And for those of you who aren’t as familiar with Loretta, she was immortalized by Sissy Spacek in, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and won praise and acclaim for her song and autobiography of the same name. For those country fans (or even not) who truly appreciate what it is to behold a living legend–you are in luck. Loretta will be making a DFW appearance Saturday at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth.
