That Mortal Coil: Rebuking the Ideal in Contemporary Figurative Art, is the latest group exhibition at CentralTrak (800 Exposition Ave.). It explores less traditional, more radical ideas about the human body, beauty and sexuality, via pieces from Denise Prince (who had her art psychoanalyzed live a couple weeks ago), Seth Alverson, R.E. Cox, Brian K. Jones (Chuck & George), Nina Schwanse, Ari Richter and Taro-kun. The collection was lovingly curated by CentralTrak’s Heyd Fontenot, who will be part of a Thursday panel discussion on the current body of work, along with Dallas artist R.E. Cox and writer Daniel Kusner. Charissa Terranova moderates all that body talk. The talk starts at 7 p.m. and is free. That Mortal Coil runs through June 29.
