Whenever a comic like Doug Stanhope comes to town, comedy clubs or hole-in-the-wall bars with pseudo-stages will post warnings intended to scare away the easily offended. That really doesn’t do justice to a comic of Stanhope’s caliber. He’s not out just to offend for the sake of offending. He’s there to strip you down to your most illogical form and help you laugh at your own raw nakedness. He’s there to offend your very existence and make you wonder why your life has led you to marvel at the philosophical thoughts of a perpetual drunk and drug lover. Arizona’s favorite son will perform two shows at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road. Tickets are $10 to $35. Visit improv.com.

Tue., April 29, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., April 30, 7:30 p.m., 2014
