We love movies around here. Love ’em. So we’re pretty damned thankful that the metroplex is home to some of the finest film festivals in town, including the Sixth Annual Lone Star Film Festival. Brought to us by the Lone Star Film Society, the LSFF is known to bring some big names and great films to town, and this year will be no exception. Thursday’s the first full day of events, and they’re kicking off this year’s festival with a bang, featuring conversations with Billy Bob Thornton (3:30 p.m.) and John Hawkes (5 p.m.) before the evening’s big ball takes over the Fort Worth Convention Center (1201 Houston St.). The festival lineup includes a variety of features, docs, international entries and shorts (we’re pretty excited about Bill Murray as FDR in Hyde Park on the Hudson), and it runs through Sunday at various locations in Fort Worth. Tickets start at $8 for general screenings with festival passes available from $100 to $500. Call 817-924-6000 or visit lonestarfilmsociety.com for the complete schedule.
