I took a tap-dance class in college, and every morning after class I would whirl around my dorm room, slapping the steel tips of my shoes against the brown linoleum. When the hall called a wing meeting about the “noise problem,” they didn’t mention the people who blared Britney Spears or the group that talked loudly enough to be heard down the hallway. Oh no. It was all about the tapping (and the drum circles). I sat there, zoning out, thinking that if those strapping Australians from Tap Dogs were here, they’d be on my side. Well they’re coming to town now, and you’ll have the chance to experience a show where tap, trash cans and industrial tools are used to create something loud and new. Tap Dogs is a show created by a group of men from the steel town New Castle, Australia. It brings tap dance to new and vivid life with a toughness that would make Gene Kelly seem tame.
