A trip to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame (1720 Gendy St., Fort Worth) is a must for anyone interested in Texas history, and its latest exhibit, Tough by Nature: Portraits of Cowgirls and Ranch Women of the American West, is an excellent example of the kind of preservation and education they do. On Wednesday night, as part of its “Saddle Your Own Horse” conversation series, former Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will be promoting her new book, Unflinching Courage: Pioneering Women Who Shaped Texas, which shines a light on 19th and 20th century women like Dallas entrepreneur Sarah Cockrell and “mother of Texas” Jane Long.
