Dallas isn’t exactly the mecca of walking and window-shopping. Which is why the Design District’s Slocum Street soirees are so special. With the street closed off and store doors thrown open under the starry night sky, wandering from one showroom to the next in the open air is almost like strolling around Chelsea in Manhattan, minus the constant noise and potentially skull-crushing traffic. From 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, more than 33 showrooms will be open for the 10th annual Slocum Street Antiques and Design Association’s Slocum Street Style Night. The street will be closed to vehicles, and in addition to perusing the European antiques, Oriental rugs and custom furniture, you can enjoy food, spirits and music. Visit antiquesdallas.com.
