Dim sum is one of the greatest inventions of all time. All the bite-sized tasty Chinese treats are the perfect way to enjoy a meal – the only real problem with the dim sum tradition is waiting for a table and dodging the carnival of carts weaving their way through the restaurant. Central Market Plano’s Cooking School is about to take the commotion out of what should be an enjoyable afternoon meal with this week’s lesson of dim sum faves, including steamed barbecue pork buns, steamed scallops with black bean sauce, shrimp spring rolls and more. Cooking School manager Dean Liesenfelt will teach you how it’s done at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Market Plano, 320 Coit Road. The class is $55. Call 469-241-8389 or visit centralmarket.com.

Thu., Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m., 2011
