Diana Ross is legendary. Janis Joplin passed before her time. Connie Francis was a radio queen. But there’s just no other voice like Patsy Cline’s. Only she could record Willie frikking Nelson’s “Crazy” and make it hers. Only she cold run with the boys of Nashville and cross over into pop with seemingly effortless melodies. And, as a bonus, only Cline has the coolest-could’ve-been-Lifetime-scary-but-wasn’t BFF story ever: She befriended her biggest fan and fan club president. Casa Manana presents Always … Patsy Cline, the musical based on Cline and Louise Seger’s friendship. Based on their meeting before a Houston performance in 1961 (and Cline’s subsequent letters to Seger), the show offers a peek into Cline’s life as the two form a bond while staying up that night talking. With Cline having made such an impact on musicians before and well after her tragic death at 30, the revue rightly celebrates both her personality and her timeless talent. Casa Manana is located at 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. For tickets ($41-$76) and show times (May 30-June 8), visit casamanana.org.
