The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $12,500 by August 9.
There are badasses and then there are the people that get named after them. (if the name is cool enough). If you believe in the power of a name, name your firstborn after Fats Waller. The king of stride piano, Fats was the roundest, jolliest piano prodigy the world is ever likely to see (he was so good Al Capone had the guy kidnapped just to hear him). Even if you don’t know the man, you’ve heard his songs–“Ain’t Misbehavin'” and “Honeysuckle Rose” are our favorites. The musical review Ain’t Misbehavin’ showed up on Broadway in 1978, and if you’re looking for a night of damn fine entertainment, and maybe a little misbehavin’ of your own, this is the show for you. See “Fats” and company at Theatre Arlington, 305 W. Main St. in Arlington, through May 1. Tickets are $22. Call 817-275-7661 or visit arlingtontheatre.org.
