They say those who can’t, teach, but three members of the art faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington are stepping up to prove just how wrong clichés can be. Though Sedrick Huckaby, Carlos Donjuan and Marilyn Jolly are a part of the same professional environment, each comes from a different generational and cultural background and each offers a distinctive style culled over years of training. These local painters have joined together to bridge the gap in Oak Cliff Cultural Center’s current group exhibition, Influence. Influence is on display now through September 9 at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, 223 W. Jefferson Blvd. The center is free and open to the public from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Starts: July 15. Continues through Sept. 9, 2011
