Why is it that team names, logos and mascots are so much cooler at the lower levels of professional sports? Dallas’ NFL team is the Cowboys, whose logo is a blue star–both pretty boring if you look at them objectively, without considering their historic significance. But its Arena Football team is the Vigilantes, and has a wickedly grinning skull and crossed six-shooters for a logo–infinitely more badass. They take on the Tulsa Talons (another cool name) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the American Airlines Center. Tickets ($27 to $99) are available at 800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com. Remaining schedule is at dallasvigilantes.com.

Fri., June 11, 7:30 p.m., 2010
