Ricki Derek is the stuff local legends might be made of. We’ve yet to really look into what makes this guy tick, but somehow he keeps popping up with something new yet never surprising. Surprising would be if he did drag at the Rose Room or fronted a metal band at O’Riley’s. His new stuff will probably always be in the the Rat Pack vein. Whether he’s crooning Sinatra style at the Cavern, swinging it big band style at Sambuca or hamming it up as Webb Torpedo, one-half of the Aqua Rangers (a career misstep that will hopefully be forgotten; Google it if you must), Derek “mixes old-school elegance and charm with a modern sensibility and ironic retrospective,” as one of our former writers put it when previewing his now-annual New Year’s Eve show. He brings a night teeming with music, comedy, magic and more with Ricki Derek’s Night-OH Cabaret, the longest running variety show in town. For 10 bucks, catch one of two shows at 8 p.m. or 10 p.m. Saturday at Ozona Bar and Grill, 4615 Greenville Ave. Call 214-695-6363 or visit numbsville.com.
