The movie that made college look like it was worth racking up a mountain of debt that even a Republican fundraiser couldn’t pay off is getting the special screening it deserves tonight … again. (More on that in a bit.)

The Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson will screen National Lampoon’s Animal House, the classic comedy that made mutilating dead horses and wanton destruction of public property staples of all college comedy movies that followed it, at 7 p.m. Thursday. The screening will also feature the Drafthouse’s signature touches of a classic movie screening and probably more than the usual amount of beer.

The theater is throwing a toga party complete with a pre-screening “Toga Fashion Show” in honor of the screening, so that means it’s a good idea to wear your cleanest white bedsheet unless you don’t mind people calling you Flounder all night. The audience will also be able to “quote-along” with the movie only this time, you won’t get tossed out on your ear for shouting “Just kiss my ass from now on!” in a crowded theater no matter how intoxicated you get.

If all this sounds familiar, then maybe you’re thinking about the Animal House screening/toga party Texas Theatre held in May. But, hey, a little competition is a good thing if it means more toga parties, right?

Besides, Alamo Drafthouse The theater is promising “free paddles” to everyone who attends the show. Just imagine what that might look like: a room filled with drunks all armed with devices designed specifically for spanking asses. You know you want it.
