The use of human hair as an art medium may seem a bit questionable to some, but for an artist like Rosemary Meza DesPlas, who’s obsessed with the line, it’s a logical choice. Her works focuses on common feminist issues of gender and identity in a unique way using watercolors and hair drawings, which consist of her own hairs hand-sewn onto assorted papers and canvases. In her current exhibit, Personages, Meza DesPlas shows the sexualized female body and all of its parts in a new and interesting light through awkward groupings and isolations, whether they’re painted on a wall or suspended from the ceiling.
