The circus left town a few weeks ago and you’re still whistling “Entrance of the Gladiators.” Maybe you’re thinking about chucking it all and heading for clown college: Elephant training seems preferable to cubicle dwelling, and flying trapezes sound way less treacherous than the office gossip mill. It’s tempting. Then again, being hit on by d-bags at the Barley House is still preferable to leering carnies. Maybe the circus is better as a diversion than a lifestyle for you, and if that’s the case, you can still get another dose of the big top at the Irving Arts Center’s (3333 N. MacArthur Blvd.) Selections from the Tegge Circus Archives Collection. Circus performer Timothy Tegge has collected lithographs, banners, photos and other historical memorabilia that illustrate the history of the American circus and give us a fascinating insight into a fantastic world of ballyhoo and spectacle. Admission is free to the exhibition, which runs through September 29. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Visit irvingartscenter.com.
