We’re not sure why audiences roar when a jalapeño puppet says, in a thick, ersatz Mexican accent that his name is “José…Jalapeño…On a Steek.” That’s so…cruise ship. OK, maybe we laughed aloud when ventriloquist Jeff Dunham played straight man to the irascible old man puppet, Walter. (Walter: “Remember when you said, ‘Till death do us part’?…Later you’ll realize you were actually setting a goal.”) Either we’re getting old, or we’ve developed appreciation for an old-school-style comedian who throws setup after setup and punch line after punch line, till we laugh. Hopefully, it’s the latter. See for yourself when Dunham and friends appear 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Addison Improv, with an additional 11 p.m. show Saturday. The Improv is located at 4980 Belt Line Road. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com for ticket info.
Sat., Sept. 8, 7 & 9 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 9, 7 & 9 p.m.
