Dallas has two excellent plays about power failures currently running: Dallas Theater Center’s colorful, charming Fly By Night, and the Jeffrey Schmidt-directed Enron, over at Theatre Three (2800 Routh St.). The latter takes us all the way back to 2001, when it was revealed the Houston-based energy giant had made some major financial boo-boos, which pulled back the curtain on the company’s fraudulent Rube Goldbergian accounting practices, and foreshadowed the 2009 big-bank collapse. It also made Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling household names for a while, and T3’s production gets a lot of traction from Doug Jackson (as Lay) and Chris Hury as the arrogant, wise-cracking former CEO Skilling. The addition of dinosaur puppets gives the play some levity, and Schmidt’s set design is striking as usual. Enron closes Saturday. Thursday’s show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 to $50.
