Once upon a time there was a story called Jack and the Beanstalk. It was a fairy tale about a tall boy nicknamed “the Beanstalk” and the wise-cracking spokes-mascot for national fast-food chain Jack in the Box. A key scene between Jack, who is trying to find more low-wage workers, and the Beanstalk, who needs a summer job to buy a lift kit for his F-150, embodies the tension of today’s economic landscape. Wait, that’s not how the story goes. It’s really about a boy, Jack, who climbs up a magical beanstalk and uses his wiles to fend off an angry giant. Right. Always get those confused. The play version of the fairy tale, staged by the Frisco Community Theater, runs Thursday through July 23 at 7774 Maple St. in Frisco. Performances are 10 a.m. Thursdays, 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $10. Call 1-800-595-4TIX.
