No longer does the Super-Soaker suffice; kids now have the Super Big Freaking Soaker Million-Jet Water Assault Rifle With Detachable Power Saw. And they had to put Spider-Man in a three-movie special effects crapfest so the kids would come out and enjoy the superhero. Very rarely are things that were originally great allowed to remain that way; the modern improvements almost always suck. A rare exception is The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (Stoopid) Tales, a wacky take on old-time fairy tales that’s been turned from kids’ book into a kids’ play this summer at the Creative Arts Theatre School. Irreverent, good-hearted and hilarious, Stinky Cheese runs Tuesday through June 28 at CATS, 1100 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington. Shows are Tuesday through Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with a final Thursday show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10. Visit creativearts.org.
Tue., June 26, 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.; Thu., June 28, 7 p.m.
