Sometimes a bloodbath is a good thing — and we’re not talking about occult ceremonies and traditions. When it comes to horror and gore, the bloodier the better, so thank God two local cinephiles joined together to create the Blood Bath Film Festival. The two-day festival that celebrates independent horror filmmakers and their fans is now in its fifth year, and they’re taking over the Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) Saturday and Sunday to screen some great horror shorts. Sunday’s screenings include Late Submission, Enchiridion, The Black Room and Polterghost. And, if you need a bit of soul cleansing after all is said and done, you can get your warm and fuzzies back knowing that 50 percent of the profits from this festival will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The film starts rolling on the second day of screenings at 1 p.m. with an awards ceremony immediately following the final film, Degenerates. Admission is $10 per day.
