Hawaii has its merits, but the place is thousands of miles away in an isolated zone for a reason. Hawaiian shirts and tribal tattoos are meant for a world of island heritage and ocean coasts, not prep schoolers and Greenville bars. Seriously, Chet, put on a real shirt and quit touting the bicep ink. But our aversion to transplanted aloha-ism doesn’t reach food, since tropical fruits and fish aren’t normally coated in tats, so enjoy dinner at the annual Island Hop Wine Dinner at Roy’s, 2840 Dallas Parkway in Plano, where each of three Hawaiian main courses will be accompanied by an appropriate island wine. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. for $85 per person, and no, a Hawaiian shirt is not required, geez. Call 972-473-6263.
Tue., Aug. 15, 6:30 p.m.
