Art is all about coming up with something new with which to excite the imagination of one’s audience. Thus, you’ll have to forgive me if my mind is less than stimulated by an art exhibit titled New Paintings. I guess it’s better than Paintings, Slightly Worn, but in VG Condition. Luckily, local artist George Lacy‘s uninventively titled showing is being put on by the Pigeon-Stone Project, which has a pretty cool name, even if it is likely to raise some eyebrows over at PETA. (Whatever, pigeons are annoying. Chunk those stones hard, kids.) Lacy says his paintings are about the “mystery of life as I experience it,” if that’s esoteric enough for you. The work is on display for free, Thursday through April 19 during regular theater hours at the Magnolia Theatre, 3699 McKinney Ave. Call 214-520-0025.
