For the last three years, area film lovers have found a second home in the Texas Theatre. While it entered history books thanks to Lee Harvey Oswald, it’s made its way into our hearts by screening repertory and independent films in a movie-house setting. So it’s fitting that the theater’s owners, Aviations Cinema Inc. (named for former owner Howard Hughes), are pleased to offer us a super special treat this weekend. For one night only, the Texas Theatre presents a fully restored print of the 1930 film Hell’s Angels on Friday. Sure, it took three years to make and a few (four) people died in production, but the war drama that set the standard for Hollywood blockbusters (and launched Jean Harlow’s career) was directed and produced by the great recluse himself. Matt Tolentino and the Singapore Slingers perform live immediately following the 8 p.m. screening at the Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. Tickets are $15, $13 for members.
