It’s the archetype of every buddy/cop movie since. Old guy paired with rule-breaking buck. They dislike each other at first, then become BFFs. Over-the-top bad guys. Shooting. Lots and lots of shooting. It’s 1987’s Lethal Weapon, starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as mismatched police partners who something something bang bang screw the rules pow pow thanks buddy you’re really the best. No, seriously. That’s the plot, in detail. Plus, Gibson plays crazy and gets in a big torture scene, which, knowing what we know now, is kind of creepy. Still, if you like action movies, this one is like the Platonic ideal of the genre, so go. Ignore us. We’re just cranky because we’re getting to old for this shit. Lethal Weapon screens at 7 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse, 100 S. Central Expressway in Richardson. Tickets are $7. Visit drafthouse.com.
