There’s an unfair assumption about critics that all they do is mercilessly critique the work of others, never actually producing or contributing anything of their own, all while eating bonbons and whole truffles (the fungi, not the candy). Dallas Observer theater critic Elaine Liner has organized the awesomely named YOLO Solo Festival, a series of eight one-act plays at the Margo Jones Theater in Fair Park, 1121 1st Ave. Each play will feature one actor in one scene and will somehow address the theme “You only live once.” The festival runs until Sunday, and each day the theater will also perform The Last Castrato, with YOLO shorts before and after. If you’re waffling on whether or not to go, just chant the festival name all the way from your home to the theater.
