You spent your whole childhood waiting to grow up: When 16 came, you could date and it would be simple and wonderful. And oh, hurry up 21, because wine coolers are best enjoyed legally. But now you wonder if that rush to adulthood was misguided — the wonder of childhood is gone, whiled away in favor of complexity and stress and too-high bar tabs. Maybe Peter Pan had it right — was everything better when it was all pixie dust and bedtime stories? Get an express ticket back to Never Never Land with Fly, the new Peter Pan musical from the Dallas Theater Center that follows Wendy, John and the Lost Boys into a swashbuckling adventure driven by drum beats and the mysterious Pan. Kids ages 8 and older will enjoy the sword fights and fanciful flights, though the adult sensibility of this iteration of the classic tale gives us grown-ups plenty to muse about. Fly takes off for your viewing pleasure Tuesdays through Sundays through August 18 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, 2400 Flora St. Tickets are $15 to $78.75 and may be purchased at attpac.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 5. Continues through Aug. 18, 2013
