Let’s not try to dance around it—Betty Buckley was so awesome as Abby Bradford on Eight Is Enough. She kicks legal tail on Law & Order: SVU. She was sympathetic and awesome in Carrie. But it’s so very sad that most people that know the screen actress don’t realize that, well, what Meryl Streep is to the silver screen, Buckley is to Broadway. Famous for her portrayal of Grizzabella in Cats and Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, Buckley is a Tony Award-winning actress and singer who has some of the most powerful and talented vocal cords this side of ever. Her interpretations of Broadway classics will engage audiences when she performs for one night only with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra 8 p.m. Saturday at Bass Performance Hall, Fourth and Calhoun streets in Fort Worth. Tickets are $24 to $76. Call 817-665-6000 or visit fwsymphony.org. Fingers crossed she belts out “Tell Me on a Sunday,” and if she does, that we remember a hanky.
