When in doubt, just dance. Or at least that’s Lady Gaga’s philosophy. This year’s Dance for the Planet Festival does just that. Whether you can shake it or have no rhythm at all, Dance for the Planet invites the community for a weekend full of pilates, flamenco, hip-hop, salsa and more. So You Think You Can Dance? alums Janette Manrara and Jason Glover will join flamenco artist Maria Juncal in teaching 24 dance classes throughout the weekend. Dance for the Planet opens its dance floor Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, 2501 Flora St. Admission is free. For more information, call 214-219-2290 or visit thedancecouncil.org.
Sat., April 17, 1-5 p.m.; Sun., April 18, 1-5 p.m., 2010
Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $14,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
