If you were to see a hot dog–bedecked with a generous amount of ketchup–placed in the foreground of a picture of a blurry moon and azure night sky, what would you think? If it has something to do with spatial context, well then, you are smarter than I am. This very image and many more will be on display at local artist and University of Texas at Dallas graduate student Carlo Zinzi’s exhibit, Super-Duper Serious, through April 24. According to Zinzi, challenging this idea of spatial context is a quest “whereby the viewer is asked to retranslate the images.” Hopefully you’ll have better luck with that than I’m having. The exhibit will be featured in the Mezzanine Gallery of the Visual Arts Building at UT Dallas. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays.
