Christmas is kind of a jerk. Sure, it’s the largest commercialized holiday in the history of gluttony and covetousness, but does it have to be so pushy? December has lots of other awesome days for us to celebrate…like Pearl Harbor Day and the anniversary of John Lennon’s death. Okay, nevermind. December sucks—except for the winter solstice, an event of astronomical proportion! Celebrate the shortest day (or the longest night, for you optimists) of the year at Cathedral of Hope’s Winter Solsticelebration featuring the Women’s Chorus of Dallas. The event is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral, 5910 Cedar Springs Drive. Call 214-261-5599.
Fri., Dec. 21, 7 p.m., 2007
