The Nasher Sculpture Center decided to tackle its 10-year anniversary in the biggest, rowdiest way imaginable: It’s holding a multi-million dollar public art project called Nasher Xchange and it opens Saturday. Ten artists, each with a solid background in taking art outside of museum walls, have been selected for the task and united for the mission. Much of the work opens Saturday and remains on view until February 16, 2014. But a few pieces, like the theatrical offering by local hooligans Good Bad Art Collective and the philosophically rooted pop-up markets in Vickery Meadows organized by Houston’s Rick Lowe are more fleeting. You can see each of them, and I strongly suggest you do so. This is the largest public art offering ever tackled by a private cultural institution, and it’s happening right here in Dallas.
