Going by the title of Candace Briceno’s new exhibit, All I Ever Wanted Was Everything, I’’m guessing the artist has never heard The Rolling Stones’ classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Or perhaps she has, and just thinks Mick Jagger was too much of a pessimist. Using the paintbrush, the pencil and a needle and thread–but strangely, no slide guitar–Briceno evokes the gorgeous landscapes of Central Texas with her work, which has also been shown at someplace called the Cactus Bra Gallery in San Antonio (sounds painful, no?). Check it out from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October 25 at Mighty Fine Arts, 419 N. Tyler St. in Oak Cliff. Call 214-942-5241 or visit mfagallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Sept. 19. Continues through Oct. 25, 2009
