You bought one of those home kits a couple months ago thinking maybe your special brew would be your ticket to total beer-industry domination. The reality was an epic grain-steeping, yeast-activating disaster that resulted in a concoction that’s a non-potable hops of wrath. Maybe it’s time for a little inspiration from a true brew guru — like Garrett Oliver, noted author, editor and Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster. Oliver will hold court at a reception and special beer dinner at LARK on the Park, 2015 Woodall Rodgers Freeway, at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Hoist a glass to the man who can sniff out a fermenting failure from a mile away as he shepherds you through a selection of six beverages that will put your brew to shame.
