Alamo Drafthouse: Props, Passion and Period Pieces

If your idea of romance includes belting out Dionne Warwick at the top of your lungs, the Alamo Drafthouse has you covered. The My Best Friend’s Wedding Movie Party is an interactive experience where you’re encouraged to say a little prayer for your favorite characters. Tickets include a prop bag with a microphone for karaoke moments, a wedding veil for when you’re wishin’ and hopin’, and even lobster claw mitts for that unforgettable restaurant scene. For those whose love language is more brooding and windswept, the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights is heating up screens across Dallas. The Alamo is taking it a step further with special costume screenings. Don your best Regency-era attire and prepare for a night of gothic romance. These events take place on Feb. 12 at the Cedars and Lake Highlands locations at 7 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 13, at the Richardson location at 7 p.m.

The Texas Theatre: A Trilogy of Romance and a Classic Debate

The historic Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff is serving a perfect Valentine’s double feature. Start your day with what might be the most genuine cinematic romance of all time, Before Sunrise, screening at 4:40 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. For those who want to start the celebration early, the Texas Theatre is also presenting a screening of the timeless Casablanca at the Majestic Theatre on Feb. 12. Here’s looking at you, kid.
