In a confluence of events that involved meat helmets, gorilla suits and balls, Dallas Observer's Mixmaster (hey, that's us!) made an entry into the 24 Video Race last week. The race, as the name indicates, messed with our circadian rhythm enough to construct a film around not going to the dry cleaners.

And wouldntyaknowit, our little movie got selected  to be in the finals. We're very pumped, and honored to be in such good company. The selected films will screen tonight, starting at 6 p.m., at the Angelika Film Center...you know, whatever, if you're not doing anything or whatever. The movies made by six or more members, the "Hollywood," category will screen at 9:30 p.m. That's where we be.

After the jump, you'll find a list of those filmmakers (or their team names, rather) in the finals -- as well as the totally weird ass movie we made. Hope you enjoy, and see you there?

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
