Have you ever wondered what Lewis and Clark's 1804-1806 expedition looked like? It started in Pittsburgh when President Thomas Jefferson commissioned the Corps of Discovery to explore the Louisiana Purchase. Over two years they crossed the land to reach the Pacific Ocean. (You can now impress your 10th grade history teacher.) Photographer Brent Phelps also pondered what the expedition looked like. So he crossed the country photographing prominent areas like the Continental Divide and Yellowstone rivers. Phelps' collection, Brent Phelps: Photographing the Lewis and Clark Trail, will be on display at UNT on the Square (109 N. Elm St. in Denton) until August 13. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the gallery is free.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: June 16. Continues through Aug. 13, 2010
