We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

In a city with as many artists as Dallas, getting your name out can be a struggle. Hell, getting your work shown can be a daunting task even for seasoned artists. Luckily for Dallas’ starving artistic masses, RAW Dallas is putting on another show, at 7 p.m. Friday at the Lizard Lounge (2424 Swiss Avenue). The show is called Allure, and will feature more than 40 young and up-coming artists who may have slipped through the cracks. Allure, like all RAW events, will showcase a film, a full fashion show, music and of course art, all crafted by local artists as well as a few visitors from one of the 60-plus cities RAW puts on events. WAAS Gallery owner Brandy Michele Adams will be co-hosting the show with local hairstylist Miguel Of Dallas, the show starts at 7 p.m. and ends at midnight. The event organizers expect you to dress fashionably, so don your finest threads, and support local art.
