North Texans Are Already Tired of Taylor Sheridan’s New Spinoff

Not everyone seems to enjoy Sheridan’s continuous expansion of the 'Yellowstone' universe.

Director Taylor Sheridan cannot seem to milk his beloved series enough. The Yellowstone creator is currently working on a fifth spin-off, called The Madison, in Fort Worth.

Sheridan has a history with Fort Worth. In 2021, it was a filming location for 1883, the Yellowstone prequel that turned the city into a living, breathing 19th-century landscape. Then Lawmen: Bass Reeves, another show connected to Yellowstone, bought him back to town in 2023.

It only makes sense that Sheridan would return to Cowtown yet again to shoot the new spinoff, especially since he owns a ranch about 200 miles away in a town called Guthrie. Exciting as this all might be, North Texans are already tired of the filming and are taking to social media to complain that the production is causing road closures.

One Reddit user wrote on Nov. 12: “TV show ‘The Madison.’ Closure is officially till 10pm. This also feels like a good place to complain about road closures for filming being allowed during rush hour. Absurd.”

Another original Reddit user relayed a sorry tale about the experience, writing: “That's nice. I am in Burnett Plaza, but our parking is off of Taylor Street. They didn't notify us at all. One of my coworkers spent 20 minutes trying to get to the garage and just left and went home.”

One X user had a broader complaint, tweeting that Sheridan is attempting to mask DFW as New York.

Over on Facebook, one person was confused about the filming location in relation to the plot. Laci Dudley wrote, “So a show about a New York family that goes to rural Montana to grieve is shot in downtown Ft. Worth. Makes sense.”

DFW residents seem to have gained a superhuman power: the ability to sense when Sheridan is in town. A Reddit user wrote: “Didn't recognize the shows name but i knew that Taylor Sheridan would be involved somehow.”

Christine Todorovich Trammell wrote on Facebook: “Can someone tell Taylor Sheridan to finish a series before starting another?”

One Reddit user said it more succinctly: “Dammit Taylor!”

The Madison, expected to be released in 2025, began filming this fall in Montana and New York before setting up production in Texas. The show features actress Michelle Pfeiffer as the lead and will follow a New York City family in central Montana — separate from that one in Yellowstone, according to TV Insider.
