Update, 8/24/25: Mark your calendars, because we're going to see our backyard on the screen sooner than we thought. This week, Paramount+ announced season 2 of Landman is officially premiering on November 17. We'll be interested to see if we spot any scenes in the new season that aren't listed below, but we'll keep you updated on that when the time comes, surely.

At this point, it might be easier to make a list of places Landman has not filmed in North Texas.

Paramount’s hit drama series has returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area as production is currently filming its second season in and around town. The show, created by Taylor Sheridan (who also created the breakout Yellowstone) and Christian Wallace, stars Billy Bob Thornton as a fixer for an oil company trying to balance the demands of his job with the needs of his tumultuous family.

Audiences devoured the first season, which portrayed the oil fields of West Texas as a modern Wild West. Instead of a gunslinging cowboy at the center of the chaos, though, Landman has Thornton at his surliest, weathered best. His character is smart and sarcastic, the kind of guy who can make or break a multimillion-dollar oil deal, but also swears that drinking beer doesn’t cancel his sobriety because six beers won’t affect him the way six shots of whiskey would. He’s a dream protagonist for many Texans — the kind of guy your weird uncle wishes he were.

Even with Sheridan's television omnipresence, Landman has not fared well with award bodies. The 2025 Emmy nominations were recently announced, and Landman was shut out entirely, a slap in the face to those of us who love a soap opera dressed up as Americana.

Awards are nice, but Landman missing out shouldn’t matter to its legions of fans, especially the ones in North Texas. After all, who needs to see Thornton in the crowd at the Emmys when you can catch him on a random street corner in Uptown?

Landman actress Ali Larter recently confirmed that production on season 2 of the show has officially wrapped, so we'll be keeping our eyes out for the scenes of North Texas soon. No official release date has been given, but Paramount has planned for the new season to drop sometime in December. We'll keep you posted.

Until then, here's a list of the places the show has been caught filming around these parts for its second season.

1. Knox/Henderson

In late July, production was spotted around Knox/Henderson. Pictures and videos were taken showing Thornton walking across a street, seemingly dressed in character. He plays a guy who walks around in jeans and button-up shirts, though, so it’s hard to say for sure.

2. TCU

Earlier this year, the show filmed scenes at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. We can only assume it was a pleasant experience, given that in May, TCU awarded creator Sheridan an honorary degree.

3. The Omni Hotel and Frost Tower in Fort Worth

No video or pictures have widely surfaced for this one, but the production recently took over parts of Fort Worth, including the Omni Hotel and Frost Tower.

4. Jacksboro

Jacksboro, just north of Fort Worth, recently got the Landman treatment, with a little TV magic apparently converting the small town into the show’s rough-and-tumble vision of Midland/Odessa.

5. Springtown

While filming in Springtown for undisclosed scenes, Thornton and Jacob Lofland swung by the town’s First United Methodist Church to pose with a cheeky sign inspired by the hit show.

6. Weatherford

The footage of the crew in Weatherford lacks the up-close and personal appeal of other areas, but Landman has been active in the area. Multiple videos have been posted with onlookers claiming to have captured footage of the production from afar.

7. Downtown Dallas

Several videos on social media show camera crews filming scenes along Flora Street in the Dallas Arts District. We suppose even modern Westerns need city slickers.

8. The Patch Café

Although The Patch Café is technically fictional for now (the land's owner's plan to turn it into a real restaurant soon), as it was a set created specifically for the show's first season, it stands at 9840 Camp Bowie West Blvd. Of course, season 2 has led production to return to the former Dayne's Craft Barbecue space, as can be seen here.

9. Benbrook, Cresson and Irving

A number of sources allege that additional filming will or has taken place in these North Texas cities, but verifiable photographic evidence is scarce. If you live in these areas and have seen the Landman team around, let us know.
