Marathon trainees, you’re hurting right now, aren’t you? You ran intricate training schedules for months, carb-loaded like a mother and then bam! A couple of cops commune with Pete Delkus and your marathon is gone, gone, gone. The 2013 Jingle Bell Run won’t replace it, sorry to say, but it will give you a bit of a runner’s high without the frostbite or traumatic injuries from icy sidewalks. That is, unless Winter Storm Cleon’s yuletide counterpart pays us a visit. But let’s be optimistic, shall we? Strap on those running shoes for a family-friendly mile or 5K run taking off from the Hilton Anatole, 2201 N. Stemmons Freeway, on Monday. The one-miler kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and the 5K runners hit the streets at 7:30 p.m.; afterward, stick around to explore the Anatole’s winter wonderland setup and live it up with your fellow runners with an afterparty stocked with food and drinks and set to live music. It won’t earn you one of those 26.2 stickers for your car, but you will get a set of rosy cheeks and a nice head start on next year’s training goals. Registration is $25 to $35. Do it at dallasjinglebellrun.com.
