It's been reported that Antoine Ashley -- who was known throughout the drag community as Sahara Davenport, has passed away at age 27.

Davenport gained international notoriety by competing on Season Two of RuPaul's Drag Race, and made it halfway through prior to elimination. Antoine Ashley was raised in Dallas and got his BFA in dance from SMU, before moving to Harlem to pursue a career in entertainment. His long-term boyfriend, Karl Westerberg (known to many as his drag alter-ego Manila Luzon), was a Season Three finalist on Drag Race and always kept photos of Davenport close at hand.

There are currently no details surrounding the cause of death. While it's reported that Ashley passed away on Monday, October 1, Luzon's most recent Facebook transmission is from Sunday, and states simply "I love him so much."

This morning RuPaul posted this on the Drag Race site: "I am shocked & heartbroken over Sahara Davenport. It never occurred to me that we'd ever lose one of my girls. I see them as immortal." - RuPaul.
