The Texas Rangers Aren't Hosting A Pride Night, But These Dallas Teams Are

Maybe the Rangers are too busy focusing on their lackluster 2025 season.

The Texas Rangers are striking out on Pride Month.

Once again this season, the Rangers remain the only team in Major League Baseball not to formally celebrate and host a Pride Night. This is not exactly surprising news, given that in 2023, the team became the last holdout in the league not to celebrate Pride, but it is becoming a glaring blunder.

The Rangers haven't really explained why they choose not to join the 29 other MLB teams in scheduling a Pride Night, but they have instead offered vague deflections. In 2023, the organization gave us a statement that read, in part, “Our commitment is to make everyone feel welcome and included in Rangers baseball. That means in our ballpark, at every game, and in all we do – for both our fans and our employees. We deliver on that promise across our many programs to have a positive impact across our entire community.”

So Pride Night doesn't fall under that promise, but Hello Kitty and Pokémon-themed nights do — got it.

The Rangers' omission can't be written off as a Texas baseball thing, either. As much as we revel in taking any opportunity to dunk on Houston, the Astros, as the only other Texas team in the league, are celebrating Pride Night later this month. The Rangers are in the midst of a struggle season at the moment, anyway, so perhaps they've got their hands full.

We won't dwell too much, but we will remind you that teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars have both held Pride nights during seasons past. We would also be remiss not to remind you that a couple of other Dallas sports teams are dedicating nights to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community this month.

FC Dallas' "Y'all Means All" Pride Night

Major League Soccer is growing not only here at home but across the nation, as well. We at the Dallas Observer are believers that experiencing an FC Dallas game should be among your Dallas bucket lists, and an inclusive environment makes it that much easier to try something new. FC Dallas faces off against the San Jose Earthquakes for the "Y'all Means All" Pride Night on June 25 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.

Dallas Wings Pride Celebration Game

It's an exciting time to be a Dallas Wings fan as ticket sales are through the roof. 2025 marks the debut season of first-round draft pick Paige Bueckers and the team is once again hosting an annual Pride celebration. What's more, Lightning, the Wings' pegasus mascot, lent a hoof to help raise the city of Dallas' official Pride flag earlier this month. Our Wings will host the Minnesota Lynx for a Pride Celebration this Sunday, June 8 at College Park Center in Arlington.

If sports aren't your thing, there are plenty of other ways to celebrate Pride Month in North Texas
