The Dallas Arboretum's gonna get crazy with an off-the-chain tea party this week. Holla! No picketing, just drinking actual tea and partying old-lady style. From 11 a.m to 2p.m. Thursday, come to The Mad Hatter's Tea Party fundraising event hosted by the Women's Council at the Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road. The event will include a luncheon, a fashion presentation featuring Carolina Herrera, Jimmy Choo, Ralph Lauren and St. John (Are you serious? They're not showing Faded Glory from Walmart?), and a silent auction. Funds raised will benefit A Woman's Garden at the Dallas Arboretum. Single tickets are $150 (yes, that's American dollars), but ballers will fork over $20,000 for Diva Platinum (which includes an exclusive table for 10, permanent recognition in A Woman's Garden and a limo to and from the event). Alice Laussade writes about food, kids, music, and anything else she finds to be completely ridiculous. She created and hosts the Dallas event, Meat Fight, which is a barbecue competition and fundraiser that benefits the National MS Society. Last year, the event raised $100,000 for people living with MS, and 750 people could be seen shoving sausage links into their faces. And one time, she won a James Beard Award for Humor in Writing. That was pretty cool.
