On Monday, after the feds handed down their long-awaited indictments in the City Hall corruption case, Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price had nothing to say to The Dallas Morning News. He “declined to comment on the indictments” specifically for a story headlined, “Wary of motives in City Hall case, black residents hope for justice.”
But this week Price did speak to the Associated Press for a story with a very similar theme: “Dallas Indictment Raises Race Issues.” In the piece, he refuses to take the reporter’s bait:
Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, said the fact that three-fourths of those indicted are black doesn’t give him reason for pause. “Unfortunately, all the actors who were in a position to make a decision … were black,” he said.
