Leading up to September’s Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we’re sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.
A good dumpling is a revelation. A good soup dumpling is life-affirming.
At Fortune House in Irving, you can’t go wrong with any of the house-made dumplings — particularly the xiao long bao, or soup dumplings. A delicate doughy pouch is filled with flavorful broth that explodes in your mouth the minute you take a tiny bite. Show your soup dumpling acumen by gingerly dipping your xiao long bao into the little bowl of vinegar and ginger, then set it into the wide flat spoon. Take a tiny bite, suck out that beautiful savory broth and consume the remaining dumpling.
Grab a seat by the kitchen to watch the dumpling-makers work their mesmerizing magic — and visit with friends so you can order basket after basket of dumpling glory.
