East Dallas’ Be Home Soon May Just Be Your New Home Away From Home

This new spot from singer-songwriter Madison King is already a neighborhood favorite.

Be Home Soon‘s motto is “No matter where you’re from.” As in no matter where you’re from, you’re at home here. True to the slogan – from the love poured into the ever-evolving menu to the exceptionally warm service (it’s not just a cliché here) – they live by their motto at Be Home Soon.

This new kid on the Casa Linda Plaza block in East Dallas (Be Home Soon opened in November) is brought to you by the uber-talented Madison King. Country music singer-songwriter, guitarist, bartender, chef and overall entrepreneur. What can’t King do? Be Home Soon, which offers an eclectic, rotating menu, is King’s latest venture. And the early returns are more than promising.

Like its owner, the space is full of character, from the bright purple seating to the cool art wall by the kitchen. A vibrantly colorful full-service bar anchors the space. Speaking of the bar, the cocktails at Be Home Soon are legit. We sampled three: The Paper Plane (bourbon, Amaro Nonino, Aperol, lemon), Air Japan (lavender-infused Japanese gin, yuzu, crème de violette, Luxardo liquor, cherry) and Little Treat (Mr. Black Coffee liquor, coffee-infused vodka, simple syrup and cream on the rocks). Each was flawless in its own way, and all were nice and potent while remaining impeccably smooth. They clearly know their way around a stellar cocktail at Be Home Soon.

The cocktails were as good as it gets.

The handful of appetizers, referred to as “snacks,” include the house-made kettle chips and onion dip, house bar mix and focaccia and garlic hummus. We went with the crudité and green goddess dip ($9), which is velvety and refreshing with a perfect hint of tang.

We visited during the lunch window (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Craft sandwiches are featured during this time, along with top-shelf tuna and egg salads, green salads and a daily soup.

As we mentioned earlier, the menu rotates. When we visited there was a roasted chicken and delicata squash on apricot focaccia (with herb dijonaise, pickled red onion, Manchego cheese and greens). As of this writing, the sandwich options have changed to a bulgogi chicken banh mi and hoisin glazed eggplant banh mi (with kimchi mayo, cilantro, cucumbers and carrots on house-made focaccia).

We’ve seen others mention a Gochujang chicken sandwich with shishito pesto and provolone, so you never know what will be on the menu. Daily soups range from corn and poblano soup to Korean beef chili.

The idea of the rotating menu is to capitalize on peak freshness and creativity. They nail it with the details that can make or break a dish. And arguably, the MVP of it all is the house focaccia bread.

When we visited, despite Be Home Soon being in its infancy, it didn’t feel like a newcomer finding its way. It felt polished, like a place that had been here for a while. And judging by the mostly full tables, it appears to be thriving already.

The menus are updated weekly, so take a peek at what’s on offer – or let them surpise you. FYI, there’s an automatic 20% service charge (tipping isn’t expected). And be sure to check out King’s customizable snack board concept, MunchBox.
